Baptist World Aid

Baptist World Aid (BWAid) is the relief and development arm of the Baptist World Alliance. Over the years, this international agency has networked the Baptist family to provide relief, development aid and capacity building for project managing teams. From its beginning, BWAid has aimed to serve all who are in need, regardless of ethnicity, nationality or religion.

Like never before, BWAid now requires the support of individuals, churches, BWA member bodies, foundations and other funding sources. Your contribution will enable BWAid to fulfill its mission.

Category 5 Hurricane hits the Caribbean and Florida, U.S.A (September 7, 2017)

Hurricane Irma, devastated parts of the Caribbean and several southeastern states of the United States, especially Florida. Reports are that the island of Barbuda, which shares statehood with Antigua, suffered 90 percent damage to buildings and properties

At least 10 people are known to have died in Cuba amidst extensive damage. The island of Hispaniola, which includes the nations of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, suffered significant damage. The Bahamas experienced widespread devastation.

The Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and the Turks and Caicos islands were also badly affected.

Much of Florida in the US was under water and long term damage is estimated to be in the tens of billions of dollars. The US states of Georgia and South Carolina and others experienced flooding and powerful winds.

 

 Category 4 Hurricane in Texas, U.S.A. (August 25, 2017)

on August 25, 2017 a category 4 Hurricane, named Hurricane Harvey, landed in the Southeast region of Texas, U.S.A. Many are in immediate need of food, clothes, and hygiene products. BWA has sent an initial sum of US$15,000 for immediate help but much more is needed for recovery relief assistance in Texas. 

   

Mudslide in Serra Leone (August 14, 2017)

On August 14, 2017 the side of Sugar Loaf Mountain collapsed after heavy rain, burying parts of Regent, a town on the outskirts of the capital, Freetown. Nearly 500 have died and more than 600 people remain missing. The landslides and severe flooding has left over 3,000 people homeless and hundreds of buildings were damaged or destroyed.

Help us provide food kits, cooking items, and health kits to over 300 households with your donation to Sierra Leone Relief Fund! BWA has sent an initial sum of US$10,000 for immediate help but much more is needed for recovery relief assistance. Your financial gift will not only provide material relief items but also emotional relief. 

 

Floods in Nepal, India and Bangladesh  (August 10, 2017)

On August 10  Southern Asian countries has been affected by devastating floods, compounding earlier flood rains in the month of June.

The Heavy rains are part of a broader monsoon system that has affected parts of Nepal, India and Bangladesh, where more than 1,200 people in the three countries have died. Thousands of villages were cut off and people were deprived of food and clean water for days.

The BWA sent an initial sum of US$10,000 to Nepal for flood relief.
